Hemp is a fast-growing alternative to trees that has been used to make paper for thousands of years. This historical plant holds great promise as a renewable tree-free source of fiber for the future. Hemp Heritage® is created using North American grown hemp which is combined with post consumer pulp. The result is a premium quality paper with an elegant laid finish.
(Fun facts: Generally called industrial hemp, several strains of the plant make excellent fiber for paper, fabric and rope. An industrial hemp crop produces nearly four times as much raw fibre as an equivalent-sized tree plantation. Trees take approximately 20 years to mature - hemp takes 4 months. No pesticides are needed for hemp fiber and it needs no herbicides because it grows too quickly for any weed to compete. George Washington advocated a hemp-based economy for the US. During World War II, the U.S. produced a short 1942 film, Hemp for Victory, promoting hemp as a necessary crop to win the war.)
